Fogo Island Inn is situated on a rocky island off the island of Newfoundland. The inn was built on the principles of sustainability and is a leader in community growth, reinvesting 100% of operating surplus into the people, businesses, and history of Fogo Island. Their business model is progressive, preserving, and community serving.
I learned to live a sustainable life from my mother and father growing up in Newfoundland. I was always inspired to create and repair with discarded parts and leftover scraps. It was life off the grid. Limited access to supplies and materials was the unending expansion of my creativity. I couldn't buy it so I created it. I painted, carved, ripped, drilled, foraged, hunted, stained, weathered, dyed, and tarnished. All in the name of art, which for me was easily another emotion. A feeling akin to aliveness. I continue to create art in hopes of inspiring others to find aliveness in preservation of earth + humanity.
